MUSIC NEWS -Just six months after the untimely death of Davy Jones, the MONKEE's three surviving members, Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, are reuniting for a twelve show fall tour marking the first time in 15 years that Nesmith has performed with the group . The run kicks off on November 8 at Center for the Arts in Escondido, CA, and wraps up December 2 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.
According to a press release from Rhino Records, the shows will feature “a selection of their classic hits, deep cuts from their first five platinum albums (including some performed for the first time since the 1960s) and fan favorites from the soundtrack to their cult film classic Head and their Emmy-winning television series.”
Also planned is multimedia content including rarely seen films and photographs as well as a salute to the late Jones, who died on Febryary 29 of a heart attack. Nesmith, who has been largely absent from music but is active in the tech industry, has reunited with the group over the years; most recently at a private show to promote the 1997 album album Justus but the last tour to feature Nesmith was back in 1969.
Upon Jones' death, Nesmith wrote on his Facebook page, "David’s spirit and soul live well in my heart, among all the lovely people, who remember with me the good times, and the healing times, that were created for so many, including us. I have fond memories."
