In a press release, the tour is said to have an "all new, custom-built set design with a stage based on the band's ubiquitous and celebrated tongue and lips logo, which will reach out into the crowd and become a truly must-see and -hear experience, with integral video screens and effects enhancing the sort of high-octane adventure for which the band's concerts have been famous for decades."
The shows will be the first live Stones shows since their Bigger Bang tour ended up in August 2007. The December 15 concert will also be broadcast live via Pay-Per-View. Information on ticket prices and on-sale dates are available via rollingstones.com. Rumors abound that the tour may continue into 2013 but no official word yet.
In a video announcing the shows Mick Jagger suggests that "maybe a few friends will be joining us." In a statement, Keith Richards said, "Sorry to keep you all hanging around but the waiting is over. I've always said the best place for rock and roll is on the stage and the same is true for the Stones," he added. "I'm here with Mick, Charlie and Ronnie and everything is rocking. See you very soon!"
UPDATE 11/12/12- The Stones have now announced plans to play the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on December 8.
