MUSIC NEWS - Grammy award-winners The Civil Wars have abruptly cancelled the remainder of their current tour, saying the decision was a result of "internal discord". The pop-country duo of Joy Williams and John Paul White said there are "irreconcilable differences of ambition", via a statement, and the band were unable to "continue as a touring entity at this time". Wow! So much for the "show must go on"??!!
Earlier this year the pair cancelled part of their European tour. Writing on social networking site Facebook on Tuesday, the duo apologized to fans for the "abrupt" cancellation as "something we deeply regret". "Our sincere hope is to have new music for you in 2013," they added.
Williams and White enjoyed success with their debut album Barton Hollow, which was the number one downloaded album on iTunes on its release back in February 2011. They also won the duo two Grammy awards, for best folk album and best country duo/group performance.
Williams and White, whose backgrounds are in gospel and rock, formed The Civil Wars after meeting to work on a country music project. Williams had a baby during the summer with her husband Nate Yetton, the duo's manager.
