MUSIC NEWS- Great end of 2012 news for Green Day fans! After several canceled appearances and a postponed tour, the band is getting back on schedule.
"I just wanted to thank you all for the love [and] support you've showed for the past few months," lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong wrote in a note posted to his Instagram account. "Believe me, it hasn't gone unnoticed and I'm eternally grateful to have such an amazing set of friends and family. I'm getting better everyday."
"So now, without further ado, the show must go on," Armstrong went on to state. "We can't wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger. Happy new year. We love you all. Rage and love."
And to silence any doubts about the band's future, Armstrong added, "P.S. Green Day tour in March."
He cleared this issue up after reports surfaced in October that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong needed some time off to deal with an ongoing substance abuse problem. Bassist Mike Dirnt said at the time of the announcement, “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern."
Green Day released their latest album, "¡Tré!" on December 7. The album was originally planned for a January 15, 2013 release but was moved up as a result of their delayed concert tour.
“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” drummer Tré Cool said in a release. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”
Green Day will also be rescheduling their postponed shows and refunding tickets to the canceled concerts. They've also added new 2013 dates for March and April.
