MUSIC NEWS - OMD's new album, English Electric, can now be heard in full via Pitchfork. The album will officially be released next week on April 9. The reviews for the record have been fantastic. Mojo said the songs are "some of their best ever," while Uncut said the album "rivals their best." Q said the album is "enjoyable and fresh, retro and modern." The New York Times Sunday Magazine will be featuring the band in its pages soon.
To celebrate the release, on April 8 at Noon PST, band founders Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys will be in Portland, OR, performing at legendary radio station KINK's Bing Lounge. The Bing Lounge is Portland's most intimate venue for live performances and events. The 200-capacity venue consistently has standout live streaming performances and hosts top regional and national artists.
English Electric was written, recorded, produced and mixed by McCluskey and Humphreys. The record is a 12-track letter to technology, space, love and a grand return to form for a band whose 1980 hit "Enola Gay" occupied the world's stage at last year's Olympics Opening Ceremony. The original four-piece - McCluskey, Humphreys, Malcolm Holmes and Martin Cooper - begin a year of international touring to commemorate the band's 35th anniversary tonight, April 5, at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC.
