MUSIC NEWS- The stars of Rob Reiner’s 1984 must watch rockumentary This Is Spinal Tap may come together agaom next year, according to creator Christopher Guest.
In a recent interview with The Observer, Mr Guest joked (?), “We get asked to do shows on a regular basis. But what I will say is that we’re in the midst of talking about something for next year…” when he was asked about a possible Tap reunion.
The band did reunite last in 2009, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the musical mockumentary with their “One Night Only World Tour” at London’s Wembley Arena. Bandmembers Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest and Michael McKean also released a comeback album, Back From The Dead and played on the Unwigged & Unplugged tour and also at Glastonbury that same year.
“We played the Pyramid Stage in 2009. It was a fantastic show. There were 130,000 people there or something,” Guest said of the Glastonbury experience. “Since the film 30 years ago we’ve gone on tour, playing Wembley, the Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall… It’s weird but great. The fiction became real.”
More recently, Guest wrote a new sitcom Family Tree with his longtime collaborator Jim Paddock. The HBO series stars Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) as a 30-year-old bachelor who starts to track down his family after inheriting a mysterious box of belongings from his aunt.
