Boy George Opens Up About Health Problems and Tour Cancellation
MUSIC NEWS - Boy George has opened up about the recent cancellation of Culture Club's North American and UK tours after he was ordered not to sing by doctors. Speaking to UK paper, The Daily Mail, the singer talked about the repercussions of a polyp being discovered in his throat earlier this month.
"I've got a polyp on my vocal chords," he explained. "The doctor tells me singing would cause irreparable damage, and that's not a risk I am prepared to take. He put a camera down my throat, and it transpired that I have an enlarged polyp which has haemorrhaged. So everything is on hold until it gets better. I don't know how long that will take, and to say I am devastated barely touches how I feel."
The 1980s pop outfit re-assembled and were due to tour this month and next, but it now appears that the concerts will be on some time next year. "I'd been having trouble with my voice for some months, but in true British fashion I ignored it, thinking the problem might just be tiredness, hoping it would go away," continued Boy George.
