Music News- Alejandro Escovedo and Don Antonio have announced early 2019 USA tour dates, including their first stops in many American cities since the release of ‘The Crossing’ on Yep Roc Records in September. Deemed as “possibly the finest recorded work” of Escovedo’s five-decade career by NPR, the sprawling and cinematic seventeen-song concept record follows the story of two young immigrants working in a Texas restaurant, searching for their version of the American Dream and finding something starkly different in its place.
Watch Alejandro discuss the record with Anthony Mason on CBS This Morning, below.
‘The Crossing’ features guest appearances from Wayne Kramer, James Williamson, Joe Ely and John Perry of the Only Ones – all of who will appear with Alejandro and Don Antonio at their ACL Live at The Moody Theater tour kick-off show on January 5 in Austin. Special guests will also be announced soon for the three night City Winery runs in both New York and Chicago. Don Antonio will join Alejandro on each of the U.S. dates, after collaborating closely with him on the writing and recording of ‘The Crossing.’ Says NPR, “the band's cinematic approach to music is perfectly suited for Escovedo's vision.”
Alejandro will return to Austin in February 2019 to accept the Townes Van Zandt Songwriting Award at the 37th Austin Music Awards. Last year, Escovedo presented the award to his longtime friend and collaborator Joe Ely.

Music News- GIN BLOSSOMS have premiered their music video for “Face The Dark” thru Billboard.com. It's a catchy and evocative song off their latest album MIXED REALITY (June 2018 releases). See the video below, it's comprised of actual footage captured by renowned storm chaser Chad Cowan. “The sky, and beyond, is featured in the clip”, notes Billboard, “a time-lapse epic which blends footage shot by famed storm chaser Chad Cowan and sequenced into a complementary arrangement by Wilson and Stormy Visuals”. “I spend a lot of time on my boat in Arizona gazing up at the stars”, Robin Wilson (lead vocals, guitar) said. “And I thought it would be cool to do a stop-motion video about starscapes and planets and stuff. But then I thought it would be kind of expensive for me to put together a production team to do that.” It goes on to say that Wilson “became aware of Cowan through TheAwesomer.com, which led to Wilson licensing Cowan’s library of footage and editing it into form with the Stormy team.”
GIN BLOSSOMS is one of the top alt-rock groups of the ’90s and is still going strong. They celebrated the 25th anniversary of their multi-platinum album New Miserable Experience last year, recently issued their first new album in eight years, MIXED REALITY (produced by Don Dixon). Music News - Tilian (Pearson)’s much anticipated third full-length studio album, The Skeptic, is out now! The Dance Gavin Dance frontman’s 10-track effort is his first solo release with Rise Records and serves as a follow up to his previous work, Material Me (LP, 2013), Future Friends (EP, 2014), Perfect Enemy (LP, 2015), and most recently, the Patient EP (2017). Prior to creating DGD’s latest offering, Artificial Selection, Tilian retreated to Portland for three weeks to record The Skeptic with producer and frequent collaborator, Kris Crummett. The result is a solid blend of pop-punk and indie-pop anthems that highlight Tilian’s powerhouse vocals and heartfelt, raw songwriting.
The Skeptic signifies a formative chapter in Tilian’s career where the more questions he asked, the more inspiration he found. The Florida-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer continues his existential search on this record. “Musically and in my personal life, I kept thinking, ‘I’ve got to find and explore some new ground,’ ” says Tilian. “I’ve always been so much more questioning than most people around me are. I never really bought into things the way 90% of the crowd does. That sentiment communicated the idea of The Skeptic to me,” he adds.
As Tilian continues to pose questions on his journey, he has a better grasp on himself as an artist than ever before, and that ultimately shines through on The Skeptic. “I’m optimistic and excited,” he notes. “I’ve been through the ringer, but I’ve had a pretty awesome and fortunate life. The whole journey is ongoing, and I get to be responsible for it.”
Additional news from Tilian will be coming soon – stay tuned!
The Skeptic Track Listing:
1. Made of Plastic
4. Handsome Garbage
5. Hold On
6. Blame It On Rock n Roll

Music News- San Francisco's Spiritual Cramp has today released a new video for their latest jam, "The Erasure" (view below). The band linked up with their buddies for a high energy live performance that was inspired by 60's/70's vibes and colors -- a perfect throwback that flaunts the band's epic and unforgettable live show.
Vocalist Michael Bingham explains 'The Erasure' is about trying not to completely lose my personality in the quest for self-betterment. Erasing all the parts about myself I know are wrong, but accidentally erasing some of the good parts with it. I'm trying hard to fill those gaps with positivity but unsure where to look so of course. I just want to be kind and well intentioned is all I know. Still searching for the answer."
Hot on the heels of their two breakout EPs, 'Mass Hysteria' (React) and 'Police State' (Deranged), Spiritual Cramp have quickly grown to be Cali's next underground must-see bands, earning them support spots with American Nightmare, Pissed Jeans and more. They will release their new 12" 'Television' on October 12 via Deranged. The album includes four new tracks and a compilation of their last two EPs. Next month they journey through the midwest and east coast with Radioactivity. Check below for a full list of dates.
Music News- MGMT's 2018 album Little Dark Age has received the remix treatment by experimental pop auteur and DJ Matthew Dear. Born from the desire to first remix just one track, that plan quickly turned into a full album remix, coming digitally this Friday, September 28th. Dear has taken MGMT's songs and put his own signature spin on them. On "James", Dear includes Iggy Pop's enthusiastic endorsement of MGMT on his BBC's 6Music show. As MGMT put it,"We are excited to present Matthew Dear's inventive approach to "remixing," a unique track by track reworking of our latest album Little Dark Age. Consider this Frankenstein-y monster mix for your heinies an early Halloween treat."
Listen to Matthew Dear's remix of "One Thing Left To Try" which is out today, HERE.
Dear explained the genesis of remixing Little Dark Age, "The best music makes you feel like it was written specifically for you, and at the risk of sounding slightly mad, I felt that it was. I couldn't pick one song however. Then it kinda hit me. Why not remix the whole damn thing? I offered, and surprisingly they accepted. Fast forward a few months and we're touring together. I learned more about the meaning of some songs and was tuned into the album at its live core. The remix followed in somewhat effortless fashion. It basically just poured out of me. I write my own albums through some sort of cultural osmosis, but those take years. This ended up being a hyper-study remix an entire album by band I admire.
"For being such an atypical string of events which came together, the entire process, including my time with the band has been everything but atypical. Ultimately, I'm honored they allowed me to crack open a vault that usually remains sealed and trust my motives. Not sure I'll ever remix another artist's album. If Little Dark Age is the first and last for me, that would be just fine."
The electronic music producer opened the first leg of MGMT's 2018 North American tour and will join the band again when they return to Europe in late November. See tour itinerary below. Matthew Dear will be releasing his newest album, Bunny, which contains two collaborations with Tegan and Sara, on October 12th via Ghostly International.
Little Dark Age was released in February and has received numerous positive critical reviews, with Billboard saying it "might just be their brightest moment" in their "Best Albums of 2018 (So Far)" also receiving mid-year best-of accolades from Entertainment Weekly and Stereogum. It debuted at No. 2 at both the Alternative and Rock album charts, and the band has performed this year on both The Late Show With Colbert and the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live!.
MGMT has headlined in North America, Europe and Australia and played festivals from Firefly to Fuji Rock this year with South America, Mexico and a headlining return to Europe yet to come. They have released videos for singles "Me and Michael", a narrative based music video directed by Joey Frank and Randy Lee Maitland, "When You Die" a dream-like journey through the cycles of life starring Alex Karpovsky, and shadowy title track,"Little Dark Age." They also released a lyric video for the enchanting track "Hand It Over".
Music News- Last month, The Coronas, perhaps Ireland's hardest working band, was able to scratch playing at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago off their collective bucket list after having attended the iconic festival in the past as fans and redefining the term 'Irish music'.
The Coronas kick of their third tour of North America in less than a year at The Gateway in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on September 25. The fall tour, largely comprised of headline club shows, will also include stops at the Austin City Limits Festival on two consecutive weekends and an appearance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience in New Orleans.
While The Coronas have set their sights on expanding their audiences in the USA and Canada, they also continue to delight their loyal fans back home in Ireland with their dynamic shows. After headlining the 3Arena in Dublin in July, they recently announced their annual holiday concerts at Dublin's Olympia Theatre, now in their 10th year. Tickets for the first two shows on December 3 and 4 sold out in less than an hour, the immediate addition of two more shows on December 5 and 6 that are now also sold out. Additionally, the band will play Ulster Hall in Belfast on December 9 and the Ireland National Events Centre (INEC) in Killarney, Co. Kerry on December 29, both well on their way to selling out as well. Prior to their shows in Ireland, the band will also make a quick return trip to Australia to play in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth on November 22, 23 and 24, having sold out a St. Patrick's Day pop up show in Sydney back in March in 48 hours.
Recently called "Ireland's best-kept secret" by the Irish Examiner newspaper, and for good reason, The Coronas have rolled out new music in the form of a five-song EP called REPRISE, available now on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music and other digital outlets. The Irish Independent newspaper has described the collection as being in "the key of indie alienation, disquiet, melancholy, mortality, regret, guilt, with glimpses of joy and happiness. All wrapped up in piano-and-guitar melodies that owe more to the Edge or Radiohead than they do to Coldplay, or indeed David Bowie."
Their latest album, Trust the Wire, debuted at #1 on the Irish music chart its first week of release last year, becoming the band's first album to reach that coveted top spot. TRUST THE WIRE was also The Coronas' first release on their own label imprint-So Far So Good Records, distributed in the U.S. and Canada through ADA Distribution. The band has already started writing material for their next album, to be recorded early in the new year.
The Coronas' Danny O'Reilly (vocals, guitar), Graham Knox (bass), Conor Egan (drums) and Dave McPhillips (guitar) have five critically-acclaimed albums to their credit--four of them double platinum in Ireland and one on its way there-and have spent the last decade touring all over the world. " We were never an overnight success in Ireland," explains Coronas frontman Danny O'Reilly . "We went through the small clubs up to little theatres, and now we're luckily at the stage where we're playing arenas. But it was all a process, and we're starting to see that in North America. We plan to keep coming back and building it like we did at home. Above all, we appreciate what we do every night, and never take it for granted. It's the best job in the world."
