Music News- L.A., CA's Best Coast; comprised of singer/guitarist Bethany Cosentino and guitarist Bobb Bruno, will release their first-ever children's record, entitled Best Kids , as an Amazon Original on June 22, 2018 . A mix of original songs, covers by the likes of Lesley Gore and Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, and time-worn favorites like "If You're Happy And You Know It" (feat. special guest Lili Hayes) and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," Best Kids takes all of the band's signature sounds -- fuzzy guitars, sun-kissed melodies, and sky-high harmonies -- and makes them kid-sized for the whole family. The album's first song, "Cats and Dogs," a song about universal love, can be heard below-
Says frontwoman Cosentino, " There is an innocence to my songwriting that fits perfectly with writing songs for kids, so when the idea was presented to me to do an original children's album for Amazon Music, I of course said yes! I wanted to make a kid's album not just for kids but also for the parents with cool music taste that might be tired of listening to the same songs off the Frozen soundtrack 200 times in a row. Bobb and I wanted to make something with an edge while staying in a kid-friendly lane. We made the record with Lewis Pesacov, our producer for Crazy For You , who is also now the father of a 1 year old daughter. The process of making this record was fun, creative, and a way for us to express ourselves musically without taking it all so 'seriously.'"

It'll be the successor to their 2008's Oracular Spectacular and 2010's Congratulations, And once again MGMT finds Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser pushing themselves to expand the boundaries of modern pop music. Returning to Tarbox Road Studios to work with longtime collaborator Dave Fridmann (Co-producer and mixer of Oracular Spectacular and Congratulations, The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala), Andrew and Ben experimented with various in-studio writing processes, allowing the music to direct them. The result is said to be a diverse and powerful collection of teb songs (including a cover of "Introspection" by 1960's psych band Faine Jade) that directly mirrors the duo's encompassing surrealist view of the everyday (see below for full track listing).

MUSIC NEWS - Peter Himmelman, has released new kid/family album My Trampoline on the new, Minivan Productions label. With songs about a trampoline, an African leopard tortoise named King Ferdinand, a picky eater named Peter, and the scarcity of kids named Steve, Himmelman mixes his offbeat sense of humor with lush pop stylings and irresistible beats to delight everyone in the minivan.
Himmelman, a L.A. based father of four children, writes kid-friendly lyrics that can be hilarious and reflective at the same time. Any kid who has ever pondered the immensity of the universe will love the meditation of “Ten Billion Blades of Grass.” “The idea for the song struck me when staring at our lawn one morning. Each of the blades of grass seemed like a sentient being, with perceptions, however subtle, about the world around them. The thought occurred to me that they get along so well because they're one big family.” “Statistical Factoids” will delight young brainiacs, “Main Dish” gives the nod to both Julia Child and Charley Pride and “Workin’, Playin’ and Dreamin’” offers up a bluesy romp with stories about kids who are making their dreams come true, with a little help from mom and dad. The high-energy collection of tunes concludes with a sweet “Lullabye (with Baseball and Trains).”
Himmelman reports that the songs on My Trampoline were inspired by real life. “We've had a trampoline in our backyard for the last ten years and our kids have had at least as much fun with it as any $30,000 swimming pool,” he said. “I figure anything that simple and that much fun must have a lot of special significance. There’s something very metaphoric in a trampoline as well; you’re always striving to gain altitude ... and even though you may never quite get aloft, there's magic in the trying.”
