Guns N' Roses Performance Cut Short at UK's Reading Festival

MUSIC NEWS  - Rockers, Guns N' Roses had their Reading Festival (UK) headlining performance cut off after they showed up nearly an hour late to the event.  The band, led by singer Axl Rose, started their sete at 10:30pm local time on Friday night, August 27.

Festival organisers say they were given an extra half hour to play and released the following statement;  "Guns N' Roses wanted to 'extend' the new agreed curfew but were prevented from doing so in order to comply with the entertainment licence issued by Reading Council."

LILITH FAIR 2010 North American Tour Wraps Up

MUSIC NEWS -  The North American LILITH FAIR ’10 tour recently came to a close, and the sometimes troubled 23-city run, described by the Chicago Tribune as an “admirably diverse musical smorgasbord that included folk, contemporary soul and hard rock” ended on a high note.   Having proven that “after a 10-year absence, it's still a viable tour…,” (THR), LILITH ’10 also honored their ongoing commitment to fundraising with more than $500,000 donated to local and national organizations throughout the USA and Canada.  Plans are in the works to bring LILITH to other countries beginning with a “Taste of Lilith” run in Australia, this October.

Co founder and headliner Sarah McLachlan said of the tour; “I have a moral and social responsibility as a human being to give back what I can,”. McLachlan, along with music biz entrepreneurTerry McBride, Marty Diamond and Dan Fraser organized the shows.

Revelation Generation Music Fest Adds More Acts

MUSIC NEWS- Revelation Generation has announced the addition of rock legend Lou Gramm (Foreigner) to its annual Labor Day weekend music festival, September 4 & 5, in Frenchtown, NJ. Gramm joins a substantial list of acts at the ERACE All Star Jam on Sunday evening. Other headliners at Revelation Generation include Skillet, The Devil Wears Prada, Anberlin, Relient K, Fireflight, and BarlowGirl.

Revelation Generation, is rapidly becoming one of the premier concert events on the East Coast and draws music fans from the NJ, MD, New York City and Philadelphia, PA region; from the Jersey Shore to Manhattan, from Center City to rural Pennsylvania, and beyond. The event features 60+ bands on five stages with a wide variety of genres, including classic rock-n-roll, metal, hip-hop, rap, acoustic, jazz, and more.

OUTSIDE LANDS Fest in SF a Hit !

MUSIC NEWS- Organizers of the annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival have announced that the 2010 event, the third annual fest, held this weekend in San Francisco (August 14 - 15), was a huge success with over 80,000 fans in attendance to enjoy 55 artists on five stages, and some of the best food and wine in the region in historic Golden Gate Park.  With those figures, nearly three million dollars have been donated to the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department since the festival's inception.

STAGECOACH Country Music Festival Announced for 2011

MUSIC NEWS- Organizers of the annual Stagecoach music fest have confirmed Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2011 as the dates for next year’s STAGECOACH: CALIFORNIA'S COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL.  It'll be the fifth annual music event; which has every year featured an impressive array of artists from the genres of mainstream country, bluegrass, folk, roots rock, country rock and alt-country, and will again take place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. 

FARM AID 25 Reveals Expanded Line Up

MUSIC NEWS - Farm Aid organizers today announced more performers for its 25th anniversary music and food festival being held on Saturday, October 2, at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Kenny Chesney, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, Jeff Tweedy, Band of Horses, The BoDeans, Amos Lee and Robert Francis will join Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews at Farm Aid 25: Growing Hope for America. The festival will also be broadcast live on DirecTV.

JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE Out at Newport Folk Fest, ELVIS PERKINS IN !

MUSIC NEWS- From the  BAD NEWS / GOOD NEWS file!!  Sadly it's true- Justin Townes Earle cut up his hand recently and required 19 stitches to put him back together.  So, he's unable to play his 1st Newport Folk Festival this weekend in Newport, RI (Rochester, NY on 7/29 and Northampton, MA at the Iron Horse on 7/30 cancelled too).

Fortunately, the Folk Music Gods were indeed smiling. Exactly 45 minutes after receiving the news from Earle's agent, Elvis Perkins In Dearland happened to call the organizers for tickets to the festival. As good promoters to, they thought fast and upped Elvis one...and asked if they would like to play the treasured music fest, and they said YES!!!!

So, without further ado, please welcome ELVIS PERKINS IN DEARLAND to the 2010 Newport Folk Festival Lineup!  Also watch for Elvis supporting Norah Jones on some August tour dates.

Gathering of the Vibes Fest Celebrates JERRY GARCIA's Life

MUSIC NEWS - The festival season is in full swing, and one of MNN's favorites is happening soon.  The fifteenth annual Gathering of the Vibes kicks off this Thursday, July 29, at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, CT.  Organizers expect nearly 20,000+ attendees per day at the four day fest.  This year's Vibes will be a weekend-long celebration of Jerry Garcia's life.  Appropriately, August 1, the final day of the festival, would have been the Grateful Dead leader's 68th birthday.

This year's festival lineup of perfromers offers more than forty bands on three stages, and includes the only 2010 festival appearance of all surviving members of the Grateful Dead with their respective bands:  Phil Lesh and Bob Weir with Furthur, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart as the Rhythm Devils, and the Donna Jean Godchaux Band. 

NPR Music To Broadcast & Webcast Newport Festivals

MUSIC NEWS - NPR Music, along with six partner radio stations around the USA, has announced plans to exclusively carry live webcasting and broadcast dozens of performances from George Wein's Newport Folk Festival and CareFusion Newport Jazz Festival, to give you four days of music by some of the country's most acclaimed artists.  NPR Music and WFUV New York City (90.7 FM), FolkAlley.com (WKSU) Kent, Ohio, and mvyradio in Martha's Vineyard and Newport are covering many acts from the Folk Festival on July 31 and August 1. Performances airing will include The Avett Brothers, Andrew Bird, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Justin Townes Earle and more.  From the Jazz Festival on August 7 and 8, NPR Music with WBGO Newark, WGBH Boston and WICN New England are broadcasting and webcasting line-ups from three stages, with potential sets from Jamie Cullum, Chick Corea Freedom Band, Ahmad Jamal and Wynton Marsalis (final artists tbd).

CRACKER and CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN Concert Plans

MUSIC NEWS - CRACKER and CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN (each led by frontman David Lowery) have both played major roles in the inception of indie, Americana and alt-rock are hitting the road together again
beginning on August 19th in Seattle as part of their Traveling Apothecary Show Tour,leading up to their sixth annual CAMPOUT music festival in Pioneertown, CA on September 10 & 11.

Along with headlining performances from CRACKER & CAMPER VAN  BEETHOVEN, past year's CAMPOUTS have also included artists like Built To Spill, Quasi, Citay and a number of other various CRACKER & CVB solo
and side projects. This year both Joshua Tree’s very own GRAM RABBIT and the Riverside, CA based garage-meets-soul band THE BELLRAYS will be on the bill, along with The Dangers, Johnny Hickman,David

New Site for Rock 'N Rev Festival in Sturgis, and GUNS N ROSES Signs On

MUSIC NEWS- Their first US concert appearance in four years, and playing their only 2010 US show, GUNS n ROSES has been officially signed-on with DAUGHTRY to join the inaugural ROCK ‘N REV FESTIVAL and cement its assault on the legendary Sturgis Rally’s 70th Anniversary celebration in Sturgis, SD at the newly constructed Rock N’ Rev Amphitheater at Monkey Rock USA.  Full fest line up is listed below.

GnR has announced that they will headline the fifth and final night of the festival, as it moves to the brand new Rock ‘N Rev Amphitheaterat Monkey Rock USA in Sturgis, right next to its original site. at the world’s biggest, baddest biker event, Monday, Aug. 9 through Friday, Aug. 13, 2010.

MUSIC NEWS - moe. has announced the final lineup of artists for their annual Labor Day weekend festival, moe.down . Joining moe. will be The Black Keys, Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, Mike Gordon, Lotus, Jakob Dylan, Punch Brothers, Built to Spill, Tortoise, Ryan Montbleau Band, The Macpodz, The Brew, Turbine, Sister Sparrow and The Dirty Birds, Orgone, and Monkey Wrench.

This special three day event has become known for its laid back vibe and great music, as well as its intimate and scenic setting. The event has only two stages, so that bands never overlap and patrons never miss a tune!

Lilith Fair Loses Another Headliner, CARLY SIMON Out Due to Injury

MUSIC NEWS- Lilith Fair 2010 loses another headliner due to injury!  Carly Simon broke her foot recently and is forced to cancel her appearances (Boston, July 30; NYC Area [Garden State Arts Centre, Holmdel, NJ],  July 31; and Hartford, Aug 1). Organizers of the festival reported to MNN, "Last week, Simon suffered an injury by seriously fracturing and breaking her foot, which will prevent her from performing at these shows. Everyone on the Lilith tour wishes Simon a speedy recovery."

Ms Simon is not the first performer to back out of participating in the tour, both Norah Jones and Kelly Clarkson  both backed out of Lilith. Norah Jones 's manager reported that she will be unable to perform at her scheduled appearances in Florida, Alabama, and Texas. Kelly Clarkson said of her decision to back out, "With the news of canceled Lilith dates and my current progress in the studio, we've made the decision not to tour this summer. I'm going to miss seeing y'all, but I hope that when you hear what we've been working on, you'll be as excited as I am. I've been working with some amazing people and am stoked about this next album."

The Lilith Fair 2010 began June 27, 2010, and will run through August 3, 2010. Top performer still set to attend include Martina McBride, Sugarland, Mary J. Blige, Sara Bareilles, Sarah McLachlan, Selena Gomez and Sheryl Crow.

Music Legend, Dr Robert Moog, to Be Honored at MoogFest 2010

MUSIC NEWS- MNN's excited to bring you confirmation of MoogFest 2010, the first ever music/tech festival to honor the work of Dr Rober Arthur Moog, the inventor of the Moog synthesizer.  The event will be produced by the noted gang at AC Entertainment (of Bonnaroo fame) and will run on Halloween weekend, October 29 thru 31 in the doctor's hometown of Asheville, SC (also where his company, Moog Music is headquartered)

The final artist lineup for MoogFest 2010 is still being finalize, but we're told that MGMT, Thievery Corporation and Massive Attack have already signed on, and we hope some classic, prog rockers will make the event.  There will also be panel discussions and product displays.  Knoxville based AC Entertaiment is expecting over 25 acts will perform at several venues in downtown Asheville; the Civic Center Arena, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and the Orange Peel nightclub.
