Newport Folk Fest Announces West Coast "Way Over Yonder" Fest

MUSIC NEWS- The Newport Folk Festival, America’s original music festival, follows Route 66 all the way across the country this fall to Santa Monica, CA for the inaugural edition of WAY OVER YONDER. 

Tickets for this music event are on-sale now.  A limited amount of Early Bird tickets at a discount will be available subject to supply.  Appearing at Way Over Yonder:

Sasquatch! Music Festival to Expand to Two Weekends in 2014

MUSIC NEWS- After a highly regarded and successful 2013 music festival that sold out in a record 90 minutes, the Sasquatch! Music Festival is set to expand to a second holiday weekend in 2014. The festival will run May 23-25 (Memorial Day Weekend) and July 4-6 (Fourth of July Weekend) with two completely different lineups at The Gorge, the internationally acclaimed concert venue carved in the basalt cliffs high above the Columbia River Gorge in Quincy, WA.

Festival creator Adam Zacks founded Sasquatch! in 2002 with the aim of building an event that catered to the eclectic tastes of voracious music enthusiasts. Personally programming the lineups for each Sasquatch! Festival, Zacks handpicks a diverse array of performers with a tradition of presenting critically acclaimed emerging artists alongside established headliners.

Electric Daisy Carnival to Lower the Volume in Chicago

MUSIC NEWS- Promoters of the Electric Daisy Carnival dance music festival in Chicago, IL announced that they would lower the volume after complaints from nearby residents. Residents in Mokena, Joliet, New Lenox, Elwood and Frankford, IL filed complaints Saturday after the first night of the three-day festival took place at the Chicago Speedway, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Sunday.

Neighbors from as far away as seven miles from the speedway said they could hear the booming of the music and fireworks on Friday night, the newspaper said.   "It drove you crazy," said Joliet Township resident Diane Sharp. "I'm hoping that this will never happen again, that there will be enough complaints that they won't bring it back here."

CHIODOS Readies New Album Under Razor & Tie Deal

MUSIC NEWS - Razor & Tie music has announced this week the addition of post-hardcore giants Chiodos to their roster. The band is currently touring and into the writing process of their forthcoming new studio album which will be released through a newly created band label imprint via Razor & Tie.

The new music has founding members Bradley Bell, Pat Mcmanaman, Derrick Frost, and Matt Goddard reunited with founding front man, Craig Owens.  The new release will also introduce you to the band’s newest member, guitarist Thomas Erak (formerly from The Fall Of Troy).

COACHELLA 2014 Dates and Intial Ticket On-sale Info Announced

MUSIC NEWS- If you attended this year's Coachella, the memories are still fresh, but don't dwell on the past as organizers are already getting ready for 2014.  The event promoter, Goldenvoice, announced Monday morning that next year's festival is boooked for April 11 thru 13 and April 18 thru 20. The first round of advance ticket sales will happend this Friday at 10 am (Pacific) at coachella.com.

For those on a budget, this round of ticket sales is the only one where you use Coachella's installment payment plan.

INTERLOCKEN Fest Announced for Central Virginia; Neil Young, Further and Others

MUSIC NEWS - Interlocken, a 4-day music festival, with an emphasis on world class music, locally
sourced food and sustainability, is confirmed for 2013 to run September 5 through 8 at Oak Ridge Farm at the foot of the Blue Ridge in Arlington, Virginia. Arlington is in central VA,  just  35 miles south of Charlottesville, and approximately 100 miles from both Washington, DC, and Richmond,VA.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Furthur, Zac Brown, The String Cheese Incident, and The Black Crowes have been booked.  Many of the artists will be performing at Interlocken several times over multiple days, and will be featured in artist pairings; with additional performers yet to be announced. Artist pre-sale tickets will be available beginning May 22 at 10am EST and general "early bird" tickets will go on sale May 23 at 10am EST. All Tickets will be sold via interlockenfestival.com.

FURTHER Cancels BottleRock Fest Appearance

MUSIC NEWS- Rockers, Furthur have canceled their appearance at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival after guitarist Bob Weir fell onstage at a NY area concert last week. Weir said on his website Tuesday that the Grateful Dead offshoot band is "unable to perform for the next several weeks ... due to unforeseen circumstances."

Weir was quickly helped off the floor after collapsing onstage at a concert last week at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY.  Further were scheduled to play May 9 at the Napa, CA event. The statement went on that the 65-year-old Weir plans to return to the road in late June for solo shows. Weir formed Furthur with fellow Grateful Dead member Phil Lesh. Furthur's summer 2013 tour kicks off July 11 in Brooklyn, NY.

OUTSIDE LANDS Festival Announces 2013 Lineup

MUSIC NEWS - Producers of the Outside Lands fest, Another Planet Entertainment, Superfly Presents and Starr Hill presents, in a partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, have announced the lineup for the sixth annual Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival.   This year's fest will once again take place in San Francisco's historic Golden Gate Park, and it'll run on August 9 thru 11, 2013. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday April 18 at 12 noon PDT via sfoutsidelands.com.
A significant portion (tba) of each ticket sold will directly benefit San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department.

Governor's Ball Announces Full Day by Day Line Up for 2013 Fest

PAUL McCARTNEY Adds USA Dates to Summer Tour

MUSIC NEWS- Sir Paul McCartney has added more concert dates to his 2013 globe-hopping summer tour schedule. The former Beatle is booked to perform at Boston’s Fenway Park on July 9, as well as Austin, TX, Tulsa, OK and Washington, DC.

For this tour, Paul will be accompanied by his band: Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (keyboards), Rusty Anderson (guitar), Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) and Brian Ray (bass/guitar).

In addition to his tour, McCartney will also perform at this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in TN.

Bonnaroo and Outside Lands Fests to Video Stream Live

NPR to Broadcast DAVE GROHL's SXSW Keynote Speech

MUSIC NEWS - NPR Music has announced they will present conversations with some of the biggest names in popular music during the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference and Festival and will also to offer a live worldwide broadcast of the music keynote by Dave Grohl. All week from the Austin Convention Center stage, public radio hosts and critics will also interview popular musicians; including Stevie Nicks and Depeche Mode, in front of SXSW attendees.

NPR Music will broadcast Dave Grohl's SXSW Keynote address, bringing this exclusive speaking
engagement from the Foo Fighters leader, Nirvana drummer and director of the documentary Sound City (whose companion album Sound City: Real to Reel is streaming now as an NPR Music First Listen) to audiences worldwide. The entire event will be available at the NPR Music site, via the NPR Music mobile apps and at SXSW.com.  NPR Music critic Ann Powers will host a live blog during the keynote and take comments and questions from the online audience.

NPR Music will present more music conversation during SXSW by hosting interviews with high-profile musicians. Depeche Mode, making its first appearance at SXSW, sits down with KCRW’s Jason Bentley, Stevie Nicks chats with NPR Music critic Ann Powers and The Zombies will talk with All Songs
