MUSIC NEWS - Rock drumming demi-gods Carmine & Vinny Appice have both had extraordinary careers behind the drum kit, beginning with Carmine’s tenure in such legendary classic rock bands as Vanilla Fudge and Cactus as well as supporting stints with Rod Stewart and Ozzy Osbourne.
Meanwhile, younger brother Vinny made his name as a metal drummer for monster acts such as Dio, Black Sabbath and Heaven & Hell. Recently, these two virtuosos have been wowing audiences with their own rock show called “Drum Wars,” featuring not just the hits of their associated bands but also a thrilling series of solos that pit them against each other like the Gene Krupa/Buddy Rich drum battles of years ago. Fortunately for us mere mortals, this unique concert experience was recorded in June of this year at the Iridium in New York City and is now available on CD courtesy of Deadline Music and Rocker Records.
Along with Carmine and Vinny, the Drum Wars Live CD features Jim Crean, Ethan Brosh and James Caputo!
For those unsure of their ability to withstand the aural assault that the Appice brothers bring, a free downloadable track from the album has been made available on the Rocker Records website. Listen, below, from MNN

MUSIC NEWS -Reuniting for the first time since their collaboration on Black Sabbath’s 1983 Born Again album, Deep Purple´s Ian Gillan and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi took everybody by surprise in 2011 when they released the charity singles: “Out Of My Mind” and “Holy Water.” For the recording of these songs, the two heavy metal rock legends called a few friends, asking for some “help.” Jason Newsted (Metallica), Jon Lord (Deep Purple, 1941-2012), Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden), and Linde Lindström (HIM) completed the supergroup WhoCares.
Now, “Out Of My Mind” and “Holy Water” will be featured in a special 2-disc set of rarities and recordings culled from the careers of both Iommi and Gillan. The WhoCares double-CD will be released in North American on August 28. by Eagle Rock. Among the tracks are the two original WhoCares songs, Deep Purple’s unreleased studio jam “Dick Pimple,” a song from Repo Depo (a band Ian Gillan formed before the Deep Purple reunion) which never released an official song before this CD. Also included is “Zero The Hero,” from the aforementioned Black Sabbath Born Again release (which is the only album to feature Gillan on lead vocals), as well as two unreleased songs from Tony Iommi featuring Glenn Hughes.

MUSIC NEWS- Heavy metal legends Black Sabbath are cutting back on plans for a reunion tour, as guitarist Tony Iommi continues his treatment for lymphoma, the band announced on their website. Back in November, the original four members revealed plans to record their first new album in 33 years and embark on 2012 world tour.
But with Iommi diagnosed with cancer in January, the group moved from Los Angeles to Britain in order to continue recording while he underwent treatment. And, recently, drummer Bill Ward has said he would not participate in the reunion recordings and tour unless he was offered a "signable" contract.

MUSIC NEWS - Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward says he won't take part in the British band's reunion recordings and tour unless he is offered a "signable" contract. The statement on his website casts more doubt on the much-hyped return of the metal rockers, who announced last November that the original line-up were getting back together to write and record their first album in more than 30 years. They've also unveiled plans for a world concert tour in 2012.
With guitarist Tony Iommi diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma the band moved from the USA to Birmingham, UK to continue writing and recording. The founding members of the heavy metal pioneers are Ozzy Osbourne on vocals, Iommi, Geezer Butler on bass guitar and Ward.

MUSIC NEWS - The rumors have been feverishly swirling this week about a possible BLACK SABBATH reunion. We received definitive word from band member, Geezer Butler who makes it crystal clear -
"I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumours, that there will be definitely no reunion of all four original members of Black Sabbath, whether to record an album or to tour."
Butler's most recent musical outing was with Heaven & Hell, a four piece outfit that featured Black Sabbath band mate Tony Iommi as well as one time Black Sabbath members Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice, so it would seem Geezer's not interested in working with Ozzy. H&H released Neon Nights: 30 Years of Heaven & Hell in November of 2010.
MUSIC NEWS - Iron Maiden former lead singer, Paul Andrews admitted in a British court to accepting medical compensation benefits for a back injury while continuing to perform with the band. Andrews, 52, who uses the stage name Paul Di'Anno, left the band in 1981. He said that he took $72,802 from 2001 thru 2008 in fraudulent disability benefits, UK's The Sun reported.
Andrews received incapacity and housing benefits and alleged that he suffered nerve damage to his back and was unable to work. Investigators from the UK's Department of Work and Pensions receive tips on Andrews and found videos of him on You Tube that showed him actively jumping and leaping around onstage with Iron Maiden during the period he was supposedly incapacitated.
