The dates begin November 28 at The Neptune in Seattle, WA and then continue through late December.
"We're going to hit the road right after Thanksgiving," Miller says. "The evening will begin with me doing an acoustic set. I'll play some of my new songs, some from my solo catalogue, and probably a few oddball songs too. Then I'll leave the stage, Michael Casey will come out, he's a punk rock magician from Raleigh, NC, he's super-brilliant, he's going to do a magic show before I come back out with the Old 97's and we do the full Old 97's Holiday Extravaganza."

A week earlier, on November 9, also via ATO, Old 97's founding member Rhett Miller will be releasing his new solo album, THE MESSENGER. Pre-orders are available now HERE, joined by an instant grat download of the LP's electrifying first single, "Total Disaster" (listen below). Additional track releases will follow.
Recorded earlier this year over five days at The Isokon in Woodstock, NY with producer/musician Sam Cohen (Kevin Morby, Benjamin Booker), THE MESSENGER sees Miller playing it faster and looser than perhaps any other time in his quarter century career, instilling what might be his most personal songs to date with a groovy limberness that belies the reflective darkness within. Backed by a white hot backing combo comprised of Cohen (Electric & Acoustic Guitars, Pedal Steel Guitar, Piano, Organ, Second Drumset), Brian Betancourt (Bass), and Ray Rizzo (Drums), Miller goes deep into his own youthful experiences with suicide and depression, placing "a long distance phone call to myself as a 14-year-old" on surprisingly buoyant new songs like "The Human Condition" and "Permanent Damage."
Music News - Rock guitar legend Eric Clapton will release his first ever Christmas album, Happy Xmas, next month.
The album, which will feature a cover illustration of Santa Claus by Clapton, is a mixture of Holiday standards, including "White Christmas," "Silent Night," and "Away in a Manger," as well as an original new track, "For Love On Christmas Day". Clapton's rendition of "Jingle Bells" is dedicated to "the memory Avicii," due to the guitarist's admiration for the late DJ.
"I had in my head that these holiday songs could be done with a slight blues tinge, and I started to figure out how to play the blues lines in between the vocals," Clapton said. "I got it down and one of the most identifiable songs on the album, the one that became the foundational style, is 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Clapton co-produced the new album Simon Climie, with the guitarist also sketched the album cover featuring Clapton dressed as Santa Claus.
Music News- Genre-defying, Grammy Award-winning band The Mavericks have announced the November 2nd release of their first-ever holiday album, Hey! Merry Christmas!. Always a group to forge their own path, The Mavericks wrote eight original songs for Hey! Merry Christmas! featuring the group’s distinctive blend of rockabilly Latino, folk, swing, blues, jazz and more. The new songs inject a fresh style and sound into the holiday season while seamlessly fitting into any rotation of Christmas classics. The new collection includes The Mavericks’ renditions of two yuletide favorites “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” and “Happy Holiday”.
Led by the incomparable vocals of Raul Malo, drummer Paul Deakin, guitarist Eddie Perez and keyboardist Jerry Dale McFadden, The Mavericks will embark on their 30th Anniversary in 2019, but not before establishing some new holiday music traditions. From the rollicking opening tracks “Christmas Time Is Coming ‘Round” and “Santa Does” to the gorgeous, jazzy ballad “Christmas For Me Is You” to the sultry blues of “Santa Wants To Take You For A Ride” The Mavericks help redefine what the sounds of Christmas can be.
2017 was a pivotal year for the beloved band as they also redefined their business. After years on major labels, with great success, The Mavericks chose to go out on their own and founded their independent label Mono Mundo Recordings. That decision was validated when their first independent album, 2017’s critically acclaimed Brand New Day, received two Grammy Nominations for BEST AMERICANA ALBUM and BEST AMERICAN ROOTS SONG (“I Wish You Well”). The group brought their one-of-a-kind live show out on the road in full force, packing venues here and abroad with loyal fans while bringing in new generations who continue to discover the celebrated group.

“People tell me all the time what joy I bring them over the holidays,” says SETZER. “I don’t take this for granted. People don’t say something like that unless they mean it. When we get a standing ovation at the end of the Christmas show, it means something just a little extra.” See full Q&A below.
The group’s set list will feature music off their latest Christmas album ROCKIN’ RUDOLPH (available now as a limited-edition box set, CD, vinyl or download), plus music off their three previous best-selling holiday albums and original material from BRIAN SETZER. SETZER’s trademark guitar work and vocal stylings will be matched with his 19-piece orchestra‘srockin’ big-band horn arrangements, making for a reliably unbeatable combination. View the Christmas sizzle reel here: https://youtu.be/6NXEa29BMqk
BRIAN SETZER belongs to an elite group of artists who has had four super successful phases of his career from the Stray Cats, to solo albums, the Rockabilly Riot and BSO. The BSO show seamlessly encompasses music from all these phases. “The music I play in the big band is rock n’ roll with a jazz influence,” says SETZER. “What keeps it fresh is the quality of the players in the band. Also, a big part of keeping the big band fresh is the arrangements; writing the arrangement for 18-19 people is like writing a song within a song. It makes the song you might have heard many times sound new again.”
For the past three years (2015, 2016 and 2017), THE BRIAN SETZER ORCHESTRA has had a strong presence on SiriusXM during the holidays. They’ve performed exclusive invitation-only concerts for SiriusXM listeners in New York City and Los Angeles which aired on SiriusXM‘s Outlaw Country and Holly channels, a tradition that will continue this year (date and location TBA).

Lord Huron is a musical and visual project created by lead singer and Michigan native-turned-Angeleno Ben Schneider. The new record follows the Mighty EP, which Pitchfork called “an invigorating listen” and The Los Angeles Times described as “full of lush acoustic guitars and Midwestern-accented harmonies as warm as a winter fireplace.”
The debut continues to garner widespread praise—USA Today explains, “the indie-folk band paints a vivid landscape with upbeat, warm melodies and the dreamy vocals,” The New York Times described the music as, “pretty, multilayered Americana strumming and harmonizing,” and Esquire furthers they’re “the last true New Band You Need to Hear This Year.”
Lord Huron made their network television debut on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and performed on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Additional tour dates to be announced soon.
Originally a solo project by Schneider under the alter ego Lord Huron, collaborators now include Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion), and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals).

The energy that's been collected for the last month will light the 2011 numerals during the New Year's Eve Ball drop ceremony in Times Square, NYC. TheSmart Power Labopened November 30, and since then thousands of consumers and a number of celeb pedalers have ridden Power Rovers to generate energy that will be used to help power the 2011 numerals for at least the first 30 minutes of the 2011 New Year.

MUSIC NEWS- The Flaming Lips play their fourth annual New Year's Eve Freakout concert this Friday in their Oklahoma City, OK hometown, and their fans attended the event will face "20 times more balloons and confetti" than at their regular shows, lead singer Wayne Coyne promised. Coyne recently said that the group has to up the ante as a result of the high standard of wackiness he and his bandmates set for themselves during the rest of the year and fans expectations.
"Our show is kind of like a New Year's Eve show when it's not New Year's Eve. So when we do a New Year's Eve show, it's out of control," he recently told Hollywood Reporter. "The audience, I think, want that. They're on acid and they're on mushrooms and on DMT (dimethyltryptamine, a hallucinogenic) and they want this over-the-top experience."
