New PARAMORE "Brick By Boring Brick" Video

MUSIC NEWS - Tennessee pop punkers, PARAMORE returns with a new fall themed video this week from their Brand New Eyes album.  The new video, Brick By Boring Brick, was directed by Meiert Avis and Chris LeDoux shows off a blonde Hayley Williams and was premiered this week.  As Idolater said, it's Alice in Wonderland meets Pan’s Labyrinth meets the color goldenrod.  Still, we love it !  Check it out, below -

Video for NEIL NATHAN Re-styling of ELO's "DO YA" Released !

     MUSIC NEWS - NJ born alt-folk singer, Neil Nathan has just released a new video for his folky cover of ELO's hit single 'DoYa.' His version will featured on the Califonication Season 2 Soundtrack (out August 19th via Lionsgate Records, order below thru MNN) alongside Sheryl Crow and Nick Cave. Neil was thrilled to get Jeff Lynne's approval for the show! Watch the video, directed by Brian Goodwin, below.

Neil's forthcoming debut LP, The Distance Calls, (on Pirate Vinyl) features musicians from The Dead Weather, Queens of The Stone Age, Kid Rock, Detroit Cobras and The Go.

PETE YORN & SCARLETT JOHANSSON "Break Up"

     MUSIC NEWS-  Pete Yorn, currently riding the success of his recent Columbia Records release, "Back and Fourth" album, has a new project coming out soon. Joining with Scarlett Johansson, they will release Break Up  on September 15 via Atco Reocrds.  And already, their single "Relator" is available at digital shoppes.

The BLACK CROWES Plan Two New Releases; One is FREE !

      MUSIC NEWS -  This autumn sees the release of two new albums from The Black Crowes.  Named, Before The Frost and its companion free album Until The Freeze are planned for a September 1, 2009 release.  When you buy Before The Frost you'll receive a download code for a free second album, Until The Freeze. The Black Crowes wants to thank their fans for the continued support, and will do so with this deal

Quite amazingly, the two albums were recorded in only five nights, at Levon Helms Studios in Woodstock, New York.  Before The Frost features 11 tracks, including Good Morning Captain and I Aint Hiding (full track list below).  The second album has eight original tunes and a cover of So Many Times  (Stephen Stills song).

Before the Frost…Until The Freeze was produced by Paul Stacey and will be released through The Black Crowes label, Silver Arrow Records and Megaforce Records.

MASTODON Adds Euro Tour Dates for CRACK THE SKYE !

     MUSIC NEWS- See updated itinerary below for MASATODON, they've added an European trek.  Their video for the track "Divinations", from their groundbreaking CRACK THE SKYE album, has been named "iTunes Video of The Week," and is available free for one week only: May 5 – May 11. If you haven't seen it yet since it's March debut, take a look. Video director extraordinaire Roboshobo ("Oblivion," "Sleeping Giant," plus videos for Metallica, B-52's, and many others) created yet another mind-blowing mini-epic.   Head to your iTunes store for details. TV is My Parent, New DVD from Sia

     MUSIC NEWS - Fans of the Australian singer/songwriter, SIA (Furler) have something to look forward to this spring: TV is My Parent, her new DVD, releasing May 19. It'll features a live concert recorded at the Hiro Ballroom in NYC from September 12, 2007, four music videos from her latest studio album, some people have REAL problems, and a batch of “behind the scenes” videos shot by Sia and her buddies while on tour. 

Sia had a wild ride the past year!  Her third solo album, some people have REAL problems, released in January 2008, landed on many critics’ “Best of 2008” year-end lists, hailed as her best album yet. She thrilled capacity crowds on 22-city tour of North America last spring, including a performance in front of 10,000 ecstatic fans at Coachella. She appeared on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, and capped of the year with a stunning performance on “Late Show with David Letterman”. Last but not least, she ended the year being named “#1 Pop Album of 2008” and “#4 Album of 2008” on iTunes U.S.

TV is My Parent captures some of her moments of the past two years. MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA Describes New Video Plans

     MUSIC NEWS - Manchester Orchestra and Favorite Gentlemen/Canvasback Music have announced the premiere of Manchester Orchestra's new video for "The Only One."  Starting on March 11th, a new chapter will debut for each song on their highly anticipated record, Mean Everything To Nothing.  The videos will premiere on a different website leading up to and after the April 21st street date. The full-album series concept was conceived by the Emmy Award winning directing team of Clay Lipsky and Jason Bognacki of Destroy Rock Music Inc., whom also directed "I Can Barely Breathe" from the band's debut I'm Like a Virgin Losing a Child (buy cd here).

The first video for the song "The Only One" explores the themes of love, loss, joy, and pain that the band's music is so well known for. Lipsky notes that the vision behind the video was to "create a cinematic collage of decaying film and lost memories intertwined with a loose narrative about a young woman on a surreal journey to find what she is missing." The videos to follow will continue to discover the many layers hiding within the new record. "The grainy, dusty nature behind the look of the individual clips allows them to demonstrate a very unique way of storytelling," says Lipsky. "The grunge and grit of aging films is both aesthetically beautiful, but also compelling as a window into generations of lost memories." When asked about the undertaking of creating the 11 visual elements needed to pull off the series, Destroy Rock Music responded by saying: "Manchester Orchestra, their management team and record label have been great supporters of our artist endeavors.  When 'I Can Barely Breathe' was well received, it helped create an open creative dialogue about our ideas and capabilities. When approached with the opportunity to interpret the entire album, we jumped at the chance."

Manchester Orchestra has confirmed a headlining US Spring Tour beginning on the day of the record's release. The tour will kick off on April 21st in Nashville, TN, and end on June 4th in Orlando, FL (full itinerary below the break). Joining them on these dates will be the band FUN (featuring ex-members of The Format and Anathallo) as well as Audrye Sessions and Winston Audio.

STEVIE WONDER To Release First Concert DVD/BluRay

     MUSIC NEWS  - American music legend STEVIE WONDER celebrates the 50^th Anniversary of Motown Records with the release of his first-ever live concert DVD, ‘LIVE AT LAST – A Wonder Summer’s Night’, Universal Motown Records announced today. Check out the trailer below.

The dvd program (full specs below), is releasing worldwide on March 9, 2009, was filmed at the O2 Arena, in London, England, on two nights, September 30 and October 1, 2008, before a rapturous audience of 15,000 each night. The concerts were part of the first Stevie Wonder world tour in over a decade, which sold 120,000 tickets in the UK alone.

The ‘LIVE AT LAST’ set list traces a lifetime of innovation and accomplishment, and, in fact, our own lifetime appreciation of his music, stretching from Wonder’s teens with “My Cherie Amour” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.” Along the way, the program encompasses iconic hits that redefined pop and R&B music, including “Superstition,” “Higher Ground,” “Living For the City,” “You Are the Sunshine of My Life” and “I Wish,” while reaching into his classic albums for such enduring fan favorites as “All I Do,” “Overjoyed” and “Knocks Me Off My Feet.” The exuberant “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” is preceded by Wonder’s interpretation of Chick Corea’s instrumental “Spain.”

    Music News- MySpace Music has announced their exclusive world premiere of Depeche Mode's new video "Wrong". It's up now, you can can view the video for the legendary band's first single from their upcoming album titled Sounds of the Universe. This marks Depeche Mode's 12th studio album, which is set for release on April 21 in the USA.

Depeche Mode is one of the most influential bands in music with global sales in excess of 100 million albums. Formed in 1981, the band consists of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy 'Fletch' Fletcher and has reached critical acclaim on a global level. New MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE Tune from Watchman film, and Video !

MUSIC NEWS  - The new music video for My Chemical Romance's "Desolation Row" tune has filnally made its North American debut.  The song, a reinterpretation of the Bob Dylan classic, was recorded for the upcoming feature film Watchmen.  Watchmen: Music From the Motion Picture, which contains the song, is due from Warner Sunset/Reprise Records on March 3rd, three days before the film hits theaters nationwide.    The band's video, which was helmed by Watchmen director Zack Snyder, transports the viewer into the world of Watchmen in an alternate 1985. My Chemical Romance is performing at a dive bar, reigning as the lords of anarchy above a moshpit. As the crowd surges back and forth, the scene recalls the glory days of the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, Iggy Pop, and The Dead Kennedys. A fight breaks out and becomes a bloody free-for-all as the band keeps playing. The mayhem spills out onto the street. The cops arrive and drag off the band members who are kicking, spitting, and punching the whole way. Director of Photography Guillermo Navarro (an Academy Award® winner for Pan's Labyrinth), has given the proceedings a grimy, otherworldly effect.

BONNAROO 2008 DVD Announced for January Release

     MUSIC NEWS- As we wait for more news on Bonnaroo 2009 (June 11-14, see Bonnaroo 2009 announcement) , we're happy to tell you that we received word today about a Bonnaroo 2008 DVD release.  It'll be called Live From Bonnaroo 2008 and will be released in January 2009 (exact date tbd).  It was created as part of an offer for fans who bought tickets to the 2008 event, but now, the organizers are making it available to all for $19.99slp. An exclusive trailer has been created, check it out; Bonnaroo 2008 DVD trailer. 

The dvd release is designed to show the breadth and diversity of the entire Bonnaroo experience, and will feature exclusive performances and backstage footage of artists such as Metallica, Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, The Raconteurs, Tegan and Sarah, Against Me!, My Morning Jacket, Les Claypool, Broken Social Scene, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, among many others.   Sam Erickson (My Morning Jacket, Dave Matthews) and 44 Pictures directed the program, which features exclusive packaging and artwork.  It sounds like it will be great whether you attended Bonnaroo 2008 or not.  The audio was engineered from Bonnaroo's pristine master soundboard recordings and remixed in stereo and 5.1 surround sound.  No word on availability at retail or on-line stores.  See full track list below-

NEIL YOUNG's Archives Project Gets Closer to Reality

     MUSIC NEWS - Some additional details Neil Young's often delayed The Archives Vol. 1 1963-1972 box set have been announced.   According to a newly-released video clip (see below), the box set, on 10-disc DVD or Blu-Ray, with a February 24, 2009 release date,  will have 128 audio tracks, including 43 unreleased and 13 of which have never been heard previously.   The package, which comes with a 236-page hardcover book, will also feature access to thousands of images and hours of video.   One included video will be Journey Through The Past, Young's 1974 film that was never released on DVD, which has footage of Buffalo Springfield and Crosby Stills Nash And Young.

The previously-released Archives albums, Live At The Fillmore East and Live At Massey Hall 1971, will also be included in the box set, but it doesn't seem that the recently-released Sugar Mountain - Live At Canterbury House 1968 will be included.  Hand-written lyrics, letters, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia will also be found in the Archives set, along with a detailed interactive timeline of Neil's career and is an audio of 'Aurora' by Neil's high school band, The Squires.

THE BLACK KEYS New DVD and Screening Parties

     MUSIC NEWS - The Black Keys new, fifth cd, Attack and Release, which was produced by Danger Mouse, was called their "most dynamic effort yet" by the Los Angeles Times.  To follow the release, we have a seventeen-song DVD of their live performance at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland, Oregon on back in April 4, 2008.   Out this week (11/18) thru Nonesuch Records, entitled, The Black Keys Live At The Crystal Ballroom, was directed and produced by Lance Bangs (R.E.M.'s Road Movie). In it, you get original music videos for "Your Touch," "Just Got To Be," and "Strange Times".  Also included are cool, behind-the-scenes footage of the recording of Attack and Release.  And, if your in/near Akron OH, Portland OR, & Dallas TX check out the free dvd screening parties (info below).

In other Black Keys news, their vocalist/guitarist Dan Auerbach will take a break from the group to release a solo (debut) album early in 2009 and has announced a solo tour.  The 14-song "Keep It Hid" is due February 10 from Nonesuch.  He will hit the road for an 11-date solo run starting on February 28 in Washington, D.C., with Texas band, Hacienda working as his back-up band and as the opening act. Those Darlings, from Murfreesboro, TN will also be part of the tour. (see tour info below)

BECK Releases a New Video for Gamma Ray

   MUSIC NEWS- Beck has just released a new version of the video for his tune, 'Gamma Ray' that features actress Chloe Sevigny.  The new video (different from the July release), was directed by Jess Holzworth and premiered yesterday (Oct 28) on MySpace.  Sevigny's role is described as a "post-apocalyptic go-go dancer set loose in a Dada-ist pastiche of psychedelic imagery and characters".  WOW ! The track, Gamma Ray. appears on Beck's latest album 'Modern Guilt'.  Give the clip a view at our, Todays Video Clip  page.  Enjoy (and let us know what you think of it.)
