MUSIC NEWS - Speaker company Bowers & Wilkins will host a Sound Sessions event in NYC next week for Metallica and Lou Reed's new project on October 24 (before its' November 1 release).  It's a listening event for their collaboration album, LuLu.  And we're sure it'll sound amazing with Bowers & Wilkins gear in use!

Honda Civic Tour Announces blink 182 and My Chemical Romance as Headliners

MUSIC NEWS - Now with 10 years of bringing some of the hottest music acts across the country, American Honda Motor Co announced their 2011 Honda Civic Tour that features blink-182 and My Chemical Romance. The annual summer concert series is marking its annicersary by bringing back blink-182, the inaugural artist from the first Honda Civic Tour in 2001, along with My Chemical Romance for a 40-plus date USA run that begins on Friday, August 5. Support acts for the anniversary tour include Manchester Orchestra, Rancid and Matt & Kim.

Members of the blink 182 and My Chemical Romance fan clubs will have early access to tix thru exclusive pre-sale on Monday, June 6. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, June 10 at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. "Queen of Rockabilly" WANDA JACKSON's New Video and Tour Update

MUSIC NEWS- Rock and Roll Hall Of Famer Wanda Jackson kicks off her tour tonight in Nashville with a sold out show at the Ryman.  And, Ms Jackson will be premiering a brand new retro-style video of the Bob Dylan tune “Thunder on the Mountain” on Tuesday, January 18 at 11 am EST on AOL.   The video was shot on location at United Record Pressing in Nashville, TN and features her producer and bandmate Jack White on guitar, with the Third Man House Band.   The video includes enough vintage tube amps, guitars and classic cool to do the “Queen of Rockabilly” proud.  Check out the teaser clip below.

The video was shot by Dylan Southern and William Lovelace of 32 (who have worked with Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and Blur, amongst others) and heralds the release of Jackson’s anticipated new album The Party Ain’t Over ,  releasing via Third Man and Nonesuch Records on January 25th.   

DOOBIES BROTHERS "World Gone Crazy" Clip, Autographed Guitar Contest !

MUSIC NEWS - The Doobie Brother's musical legacy has spanned almost four decades, from their classic 70's hits "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," "Long Train Running" to their chart-topping new album World Gone Crazy, the band's first release in over ten years. OK Go Premieres "White Knuckles" Video

MUSIC NEWS - OK Go's new video for "White Knuckles," their latest single, will premiere on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today (Monday, September 20, 2010 - check local listings for details). The new clip  like all of the other videos from Of the Blue Colour of the Sky can be seen at Ellen's site (and below).   OK Go caps off the day with a performance of "White Knuckles" on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

In customary OK Go fashion, "White Knuckles" was filmed in one continuous shot.  And, like the band's GRAMMY®-winning video "Here It Goes Again," it was directed by the band and Trish Sie, lead singer
Damian Kulash's sister and was shot in Corvallis, OR.

"White Knuckles" is the latest in the band's series of inventive music videos that have set internet records and won numerous awards. The Producers Guild of America, in association with Variety, recently named OK Go as one of 2010's "Digital 25," recognizing the 25 leading visionaries, innovators and producers in digital media. On November 2, OK Go will release Of the Blue Colour of the Sky Extra Nice Edition on its own record label, Paracadute.

OK Go Announce Autumn Tour and "White Knuckles" Contest

MUSIC NEWS -  OK Go, the most downloaded band ever, will launch an extensive North American
tour with a performance in California at the Los Angeles County Fair on October 3rd.  Tickets are on sale now. In addition to their headlining shows, the band will perform at the Discover Louisville Festival (10/12) and the PopTech Conference (10/21, Camden, ME).  PopTech is an annual event that convenes a network of visionary individuals in science, technology, design, the corporate and social sectors, entrepreneurship, education and the arts to explore the nature of creative change.

OK Go have partnered with Indaba Music and the Rock Band Network to launch a remix contest for their new single, "White Knuckles."  OK Go encourages fans to get as creative as possible, to not feel afraid to redefine the song in both genre and feeling. John Legend and The Roots in Three Part American Airlines Concert Promotion

MUSIC NEWS - John Legend and The Roots will appear at a three-part private concert series this fall it was announced today.  "The American Airlines John Legend and The Roots Concert Series" will be held in New York City and will feature three exclusive performances at the Bowery Ballroom and Music Hall of Williamsburg. Legend's new album, WAKE UP, releases September 21, 2010 on Columbia Records.

RUNNER RUNNER; Cure Cover, TV,Tour & Contest News

MUSIC NEWS - Rising pop/rock band from Huntington Beach, CA,  Runner Runner makes its network TV debut on Tuesday, July 20 when they guest on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live"  (12:05AM/11:05PM CT).  Runner Runner; Ryan Ogren/vocals, Nick Bailey/guitar, Peter Munters/guitar and vocals, Jon Berry/bass, and James Ulrich/drums, will perform their single "So Obvious" as well as the tune "Paper Cuts."  Both songs are from the band's self-titled debut album (out September 28 via  EMI Music/Capitol/C.E. Music/MRV).

Runner Runner will kick off a huge summer tour with Secondhand Serenade and White Tie Affair on July 17, itinerary below.

LINKIN PARK Confirms Autumn Release of "A Thousand Suns"

MUSIC NEWS- Via their official website, LINKIN PARK today announced a September 14 release of their new album A THOUSAND SUNS (out via Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros). The album is co-produced by Rick Rubin (U2, Johnny Cash) and Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda, who last joined up to produce Linkin Park’s 2007 release, Minutes To Midnight.
 
They also announced the first single from the new album will be “The Catalyst,” which will make its' debut on radio around the globe on August 2.  The tune will also be featured on the band’s MySpace Music profile.  But before the song is released, the band and MySpace are teaming up for “Linkin Park, Featuring You,” promo.  It'll give you a first-of-its-kind opportunity to collaborate with Linkin Park to produce their own song based on some of the tracks from the forthcoming single.

LILITH FAIR 2010 Takes a Hit, More Shows Cancelled

MUSIC NEWS- Producers of the all-female Lilith Fair 2010 tour, which was originally co-founded in 1997 by singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan and her manager, Terry McBride, confirmed this week that they are canceling nearly a third of the shows on their ambitious tour itinerary.

Lilith 2010 which started up in Calgary last Sunday after an 11-year break is cancelling big market stops like Montreal, Houston and Dallas with the promoters citing "one of the most challenging summer concert seasons" as the reason.  Things may get even worse, with additional cancellations, as performers on the bill (like Norah Jones and Kelly Clarkson [see KC news below]) start jumping ship and leave the declining tour.

Though the problem with poor ticket sales is not just a "girl thing".  Top artists like Christina Aguilera, the Eagles, Rihanna, John Mayer, Limp Bizkit, Jonas Brothers, and the Go-Go's (injury claim on this one) have either canceled individual shows or entire tours with others downsizing to smaller venues due to world economic issues and a possibly saturated touring marketplace.  Many consumers are facing tough economic decisions, and seeing the same performer over and over playing the same songs might be hard to accept, especially at the sky ticket prices (plus fees) that are being charged.
