The Black Eyed Peas Booked for Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show

MUSIC NEWS - The NFL have confirmed that The Black Eyed Peas  will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX on Sunday, February 6, 2011.  The most-watched music event of the year, 153 million+ viewers in the USA alone watched last year's show that featured UK classic rockers, The WHO.

The Black Eyed Peas join an impressive list of recent halftime acts that in addition to The Who has featured Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.  The signing of BEP is a notable change in the NFL's talent booking policy of recent, as the NFL looks to reach a much younger audience than they have in the past with the older rockers that have been performing.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE To Play at NFL Game in the UK

MUSIC NEWS - MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE have been booked to open a NFL football game in the UK.  The band will perform at London's Wembley Stadium on Halloween, October 31.  The band plays before the game beween the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos.

Gerard Way and team will perform their new single 'Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)'. The tune is off their new album 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys', which is releasing next month, on November 22.

 

GREEN DAY to Play at NY Jets Home Opener

MUSIC NEWS- Football's love affair with rock and roll continues to blossom with Green Day announcing they will play with/for the The New York Jets at the team's regular-season opener on September 13 in E. Rutherford, NJ when the team faces the Baltimore Ravens in the Monday night game at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Green Day is said to be performing "Last of the American Girls" with the Broadway cast of their Tony Award-winning rock musical "American Idiot".

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND and TAYLOR SWIFT To Headline NFL Opening Kickoff Event

MUSIC NEWS- Another football season is upon us, so it's time to celebrate with the season's pregame show, "NFL Opening Kickoff 2010 Presented by EA Sports", this time with the Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift at 7:30 pm ET on Thursday, September 9 from Jackson Square / Superdome in New Orleans.

The simulcast coverage of the 60-minute pregame music event will air from 7:30-8:30 pm ET on NBC and NFL Network. The live pregame broadcast will also be available via NFL Mobile only from Verizon. The performances are part of the celebration to kick off the 2010 NFL season and to honor the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans, LA. 

JONAS BROTHERS and DEMI LOVATO Join the 2010 US Open Kids' Day

MUSIC NEWS - The USTA announced today that pop superstars Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato will appear alongside tennis world's # 1 Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters and Novak Djokovic at the 15th Annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on Saturday, August 28 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.  The all day family event runs from 9:30am - 4 pm and will be hosted by Adrienne Bailon and Quddus, the show will feature special celebrity guests including Nick Cannon.

OZZY OSBOURNE To Lead Record Breaking "SCREAM" at Dodger Stadium

MUSIC NEWS - Ozzy Osbourne will lead the Dodger Stadium crowd in an attempt to break the Guinness World Records® loudest scream record, today Friday, June 11 during the 5th inning break.  The Dodgers are set to play against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

As part of the third annual ThinkCure! Weekend at Dodger Stadium this Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, Ozzy and his wife Sharon Osbourne, a cancer survivor, will lend their support to ThinkCure!. This stadium-wide scream is also in celebration of Osbourne’s upcoming Epic album SCREAM, due out June 22 via Epic Records.

DEVO Added To Vancouver Winter Olympic Events

MUSIC NEWS - DEVO, post modern civilization's most visionary and influential rock bands, have accepted an invitation to perform live at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver on February 22, 2010.  The performance will conclude a Victory Ceremony and will be broadcast live on NBC. It’s your duty as citizens of the earth to tune in, watch, listen and learn.

 

This is all part of the growing anticipation of the band’s first studio album in nearly 20 years. With an estimated 3 billion worldwide television viewers, this is probably DEVO’s biggest single event audience and one of many future opportunities to expose their music, knowledge and message to the world. It's been reported that DEVO will perform old favorites as well as future favorites from the upcoming album.  

 

The announcement of DEVO completes the lineup of 15 top North American headline acts for the Whistler Victory Ceremonies, which also includes Feist, Usher, Our Lady Peace and The Fray. Townshend Reveals THE WHO Super Bowl XLIV Set List

MUSIC NEWS - With the conference championship games over, we can look to the Super Bowl, and with all the WHO ads yesterday we can't wait 'til the halftime show.  Billboard.com has an exclusive interview with The Who’s Pete Townshend.  Pete tips us off with news of what they in store for their upcoming Super Bowl XLIV halftime performance.  

"We're kinda doing a mashup of stuff," the guitarist tells the music trade publication site. "A bit of 'Baba O'Riley,' a bit of 'Pinball Wizard,' a bit of the close of 'Tommy,' a bit of 'Who Are You,' and a bit of 'Won't Get Fooled Again'. It works -- it's quite a saga. A lot of the stuff that we do has that kind of celebratory vibe about it -- we've always tried to make music that allows the audience to go a bit wild if they want to. Hopefully it will hit the spot."

New Music From ROBERT RANDOLPH and the FAMILY BAND

MUSIC NEWS  - Robert Randolph and the Family Band, led by the heralded pedal steel guitarist, singer, and songwriter Robert Randolph, have released a foot-stomping new digital single, entitled “Get There,” which will make its broadcast tv debut as the new theme song for Friday Night Knicks on the MSG Network on Friday, October 30th. “Get There,”  was released on iTunes on October 27th and is now available for purchase, is the first new song from Robert Randolph and the Family Band in three years !

 

“When I wrote, ‘Get There,’ I was tapping into the sound and soul of our gospel roots – the true essence of the Family Band.  The song speaks of moving in that positive direction.  As a longtime NY Knicks b-ball fan, I feel that is where the team is heading,” said Randolph.

 

The Family Band, which also features Randolph’s cousins Danyel Morgan and Marcus Randolph released their last album, Colorblind on Warner Bros. Records in October 2006. It gave us two singles, “Thrill of It” (of which a live version was used as the theme music for six editions of the debut season of ABC’s Saturday Night Football) and “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That,” which was used in the film "Stomp the Yard."
