KORN on Lopez Tonight - 8/24,

MUSIC NEWS - American metal rockers, KORN takes to the airways tonite, for their first performance on Lopez Tonight. The show, hosted by comedian George Lopez, airs at 11 PM ET on TBS. The band will perform their brand new single, "Let the Guilt Go," their second single off their latest album, Korn III - Remember Who You Are. 

Korn will be joined onstage for the performance by the latest addition to their touring band, guitarist Wes Geer (formerly of the So Cal band Hed Pe).   The band recently completed one of the summer's most successful rock tour in the USA as the closing headline act for the third annual Rock Star Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

TREME Benefit at New Orleans House of Blues

MUSIC NEWS - HBO, Geffen Records, House of Blues and Make It Right have announced “A Night of Treme,” a benefit show featuring the artists and music from the highly-acclaimed HBO series Treme.  House of Blues in New Orleans will host the concert on the eve of the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Saturday, August 28 at 8:00pm. 

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster with  all of  the proceeds from the ticket sales going to benefit Make It Right’s work to rebuild safe, sustainable and affordable homes for working families 
in New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward.  In addition to the general admission  ticket, you can purchase a VIP ticket, which includes admission to  the show and the after-party at House of Blues’ restaurant and Voodoo  Garden. The after-party will include food, open-bar and special  appearances by beloved New Orleans’ artists and luminaries.   "Make It Right has had a singular impact on addressing the housing 
needs of New Orleans after Katrina, particularly in the 9th Ward.  The cast and crew of Treme are proud to be doing whatever we can to assist  in those efforts," states Treme creator and executive producer David

GREEN DAY to Play at NY Jets Home Opener

MUSIC NEWS- Football's love affair with rock and roll continues to blossom with Green Day announcing they will play with/for the The New York Jets at the team's regular-season opener on September 13 in E. Rutherford, NJ when the team faces the Baltimore Ravens in the Monday night game at New Meadowlands Stadium.

Green Day is said to be performing "Last of the American Girls" with the Broadway cast of their Tony Award-winning rock musical "American Idiot".

DAVE MATTHEWS BAND and TAYLOR SWIFT To Headline NFL Opening Kickoff Event

MUSIC NEWS- Another football season is upon us, so it's time to celebrate with the season's pregame show, "NFL Opening Kickoff 2010 Presented by EA Sports", this time with the Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift at 7:30 pm ET on Thursday, September 9 from Jackson Square / Superdome in New Orleans.

The simulcast coverage of the 60-minute pregame music event will air from 7:30-8:30 pm ET on NBC and NFL Network. The live pregame broadcast will also be available via NFL Mobile only from Verizon. The performances are part of the celebration to kick off the 2010 NFL season and to honor the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans, LA. 

"So You Think You Can Dance" Announces 2010 Tour

MUSIC NEWS- Dancing their way from your monitor or tv to your town (and heart) the top ten contestants of Fox Television’s "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE" will be strutting their stuff at an arena near by.  The extremely popular dancing reality TV program is back on the road later this year, starting up on September 19 at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena.

Other cities on the itinerary (see below)  include Houston at Reliant Arena September 21; Kansas City at Sprint Center September 24; Miami at the American Airlines Arena September 20 and Boston at Agganis Arena October 11. Other cities visited will be NYC, Newark NJ, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago /Rosemont, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Tacoma, San Jose, San Diego and L.A.

BOB GELDOF's Live Aid Story to Become a Film

MUSIC NEWS - The visionary Irish rocker, (Sir) Bob Geldof and his worldwide Live Aid concert to raise money to help in the famine relief efforst for Ethiopia is being made into a TV film, the BBC announced on Wednesday.   The 1985 concert event, assembled by Geldof and UK music promoter Harvey Goldsmith, found an audience of an estimated 1.5 billion people and helped raise the public and political awareness of Africans impacted by the poverty, starvation and disease.

Filming for the 90 minute teleplay has already started in Dublin.   "When Harvey met Bob," will follow the story from the day Geldof (of the Boomtown Rats band) got home to find his girlfriend at the time, Paula Yates holding their baby and crying while she watched television footage from feeding camps in Eritrea.

JIMMY BUFFET Assembles Gulf Coast Benefit Concert

MUSIC NEWS - Jimmy Buffett and some of his friends will be appearing at a Gulf Coast benefit concert on July 1.  The special Gulf Shores, AL beach concert will aid Gulf Coast residents affected by the April Gulf of Mexico oil spill will feature Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Jesse Winchester, Sonny Landreth and Allen Toussaint.  The show will air live on the CMT network from 8-9:30pm EDT.

It's a free show, but the idea is to raise money, so pick up one of the t-shirt specially designed for the event.  It'll be sold online as well as at the event siteshow and you can expect other opportunities to help.

STEVE MILLER to Appear on CMT's Crossroads

MUSIC NEWS-  Legendary rock icon Steve Miller has signed on to celebrate BINGO, his muchy anticipated new album by sharing the stage with longtime friend Kenny Chesney on CMT's CROSSROADS tv show.  The two will perform each other's songs and share some stories on the show, filmed at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. The program will air Friday, July 9th at 10pm/9pm central.   Featured on the hour long episode will include Miller's classics such as "The Joker" , "Abracadabra," and from the new album,  "You Got Me Dizzy".  Miller will bring us the Chesney hits "Living In Fast Forward" and "I Go Back."

"From the first time Kenny invited me to play with him in San Francisco at AT&T Park, until this minute he has been a refreshing and wonderful friend,"  Miller said recently. LYLE LOVETT Kicks Off His "Natural Forces" Tour with the Kansas City Symphony

MUSIC NEWS - Lyle Lovett makes a special guest appearance tonight with the Kansas City Symphony at the 2010 Symphony in the Flint Hills.  The sunset concert for several thousand takes place outdoors in the picturesque tallgrass prairie of Chase County, KS.  Lovett will perform three songs with the symphony; If I Had a Boat,Which Way Does That Old Pony Run and Natural Forces, the title track to his newest album.

Lovett narrated the PBS special The Last Stand of the Tallgrass Prairie and supports the Symphony in Flint Hills and its non-profit efforts of heightening appreciation and awareness of the Kansas Flint Hills.

JOHN PRINE's New Live Album and TV News

MUSIC NEWS- John Prine's brand new album "In Person & On Stage" is out this week on his Oh Boy Records.  "In Person & On Stage," is his new live album which showcases the remarkable continuum that Prine's catalog has become. The album features musical guests; Emmylou Harris, Sara Watkins, Kane Welch Kaplin, Josh Ritter and Iris Dement. It's definitely Prine at his best.

TRAIN's New "If It's Love" Video (Pete Wentz directed) Premieres

MUSIC NEWS - San Francisco rockers, Train are back with a video for their new song "If It's Love", off their Ocotber 2009 released album Save Me, San Francisco (available on Columbia Records). The video was directed by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy fame and will premiere on Saturday, May 15 at 9am (ET/PT) on VH1 Top 20 Countdown Show.

Check out the preview clip of the "If It's Love" video below.  On the premise of the video, Pete previously told MTV, "It's based off videos like (Michael Jackson's) 'Leave Me Alone,' or 'The Real Slim Shady' ... it's a bit of a parody, you'll see Pat and the guys parodying themselves a bit. That's what I've always found from [Fall Out Boy's] videos. If you take the piss out of yourself, people like it."


"If It's Love" follows up Train's huge hit single, "Hey, Soul Sister".  Watch for Train performing June 7 on "The View" and on August 6 as part of the "TODAY Show Summer Concert Series" from NYC. Train will also have the honor of helping to kick-off the inaugural concert at the New Meadowlands Stadium in E. BRET MICHAELS Plans His Return to the Concert Stage

MUSIC NEWS - Rocker & TV guy Bret Michaels is nearly ready to get back on stage, only a month after being sidelined by a brain hemorrhage.  On Friday, his rep announced that Mr Michaels would perform at the Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, MS, on May 28.

Michaels has been out of commission since April.  He had an emergency appendectomy on April 12, and suffered a brain hemorrhage ten days later which got him in intensive care  in a Phoenix, AZ hospital for two weeks.

TOM PETTY Tix On Sale. Well, No Service Charge At Least

MUSIC NEWS - To commemorate their 8th appearance on Saturday Night Live, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are offering a "no service charge" promo for shows on their concert tour.  The "sale" offer coincides with their May 15th season finale appearance on SNL.   You can pick up tickets without the standard ticket processing fees starting tomorrow, May 15 at 11:30 pm EST, but act fast as deal ends th at 11:59pm EST on May 18, 2010. Public Image Ltd (PiL) to Make "Jimmy Fallon" Appearance, Announce NYC Filming Plans

MUSIC NEWS - While PUBLIC IMAGE LTD (PiL) continue to make their run across North America on their first U.S. tour in 18 years, the band's revealed that they will appear on NBC TV’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Show” on Monday, May 17 (12:35 AMET-PT/11:25 PMCT).

And in other Pil news, the John Lydon-fronted band will film their entire performance at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY on Wednesday, May 19 for a forthcoming PiL documentary directed by Alex Mar and produced by Artists Public Domain. DJ Justin Miller of DFA Records will open the Williamsburg show.

MGMT Rocks the Night on SNL

MUSIC NEWS - Brooklyn, NY's MGMT performed two songs last night on SNL.  Up first, off of Congratulations, their sophmore release was "Flash Delirium," the song they put out digitally last month, March 9 to preview the new album. The New Yorkers then gave us "Brian Eno," (see clip below) a tremendous tribute the British producer and musician.

"It's kind of a vampire-punk-rock song about finding Brian Eno in like a cathedral in Transylvania," vocalist Andrew VanWyngarden told the New York magazine last year. "He's like a dark wizard. We originally asked him to produce the track, but he hadn't heard of us."  MGMT is currently on tour to promote the new releaseand will play at May's Sasquatch festival and August's Lollapalooza.
