Music News- An exclusive behind the scenes look at the infamous unraveling of the Fyre music festival. Created by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, Fyre was promoted as a luxury music festival on a private island in the Bahamas featuring bikini-clad supermodels, A-List musical performances and posh amenities. Guests arrived to discover the reality was far from the promises.
Chris Smith, the director behind the Emmy Award Nominated documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, gives a first-hand look into disastrous crash of Fyre as told by the organizers themselves.
The Netflix Original Documentary will be released globally January 18, 2019. Wisconsin-born director Chris Smith is known for independent films that reveal some of the more curious aspects of the “American dream”. Wry, empathetic, and wise, Smith’s films occupy a special niche in contemporary cinema. His directing credits include the Emmy-nominated JIM & ANDY: The Great Beyond Featuring a Very Special, Contractually Obligated Mention of Tony Clifton (2017), AMERICAN MOVIE (1999 Sundance Grand Jury Prize for Documentary), COLLAPSE (2009), THE YES MEN (2003) and THE POOL (2008 Sundance Audience Award), in addition to numerous commercials for US production company Smuggler.
Produced by: Danny Gabai (VICE Studios), Chris Smith (Library Films) and Mick Purzycki (Jerry Media)
Executive Producers: Brett Kincaid, Max Pollack, Matthew Rowean, Gabrielle Bluestone, James Ohliger, Elliot Tebele

Music News- Critically acclaimed Ohio husband and wife duo Over the Rhine celebrates 30 years of making understated yet emotionally-charged music with the March 15th release of Love & Revelation. Self-produced and releasing on their own Great Speckled Dog label, Over the Rhine’s first new music in four years finds the beloved duo in a deeply reflective place, contemplating both personal loss and the wavering of America’s collective compass. 2013’s acclaimed double album Meet Me At The Edge Of The World found the pair settling into a new chapter of their lives in rural Ohio. On the other end of the emotional spectrum, Love & Revelation explores the many forms of grief and how we react and process, but as with much of Over the Rhine’s body of work, there is often a deep undercurrent of hope.
Over the course of the last three decades, Linford Detweiler and Karin Bergquist (aka Over the Rhine) have established a reputation for delivering genuine, heartfelt stories of the human condition that are both empathetic and provocative. The pair’s expansive, incisive lyrics and earthy sound are often inspired by time and place. Each album represents a certain chapter in their lives – what they have experienced, and the resulting emotional landscape. Love & Revelation embodies the last four years.
Another revelation transpiring in that time frame is Over the Rhine’s Nowhere Else Festival. Now in its fourth year, the annual event has become a “musical family reunion” of nearly 1,000 fans and friends. Poised to grow significantly, the gathering takes place on the farm Bergquist and Detweiler call home in rural Clinton County, Ohio, outside of Cincinnati. In many ways the festival acts as an extension of the community they have established with their fans, as they invite a variety of artists, writers and filmmakers for a weekend of music, art and conversation. This year’s artist curated event will take place on Memorial Day Weekend from May 24-26, 2019. More info at www.nowhereelsefestival.com.
Over the Rhine creates music that is both intimate and revelatory, with deeply rich textures, intricate arrangements and Bergquist’s warm, evocative vocals. Tracks such as “Los Lunas”, “Given Road” and “Broken Angels” exude these qualities. While each of the songs can feel like its own short film, the album nonetheless coalesces into a feature-length immersive experience. The resulting soulful collection illustrates life’s major moments, from suffering to celebration, while also creating a personal connection that feels innately human. True to form, the resilient duo retains their sense of hope as they look forward to the next 30 years.

Music News- ODESZA has today released a deluxe edition of their GRAMMY-nominated latest album ‘A Moment Apart’, showcasing their endless creativity as musicians, producers, and songwriters who continually disintegrate any genre limitations of electronic music.
In addition to the original 16 tracks of ‘A Moment Apart’, this new digital-only Deluxe Edition features stripped-back and reimagined versions of LP singles “Falls (feat. Sasha Sloan)”, “Line Of Sight (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair)” and “Higher Ground (feat. Naomi Wild)”, inspired by the gorgeously intimate live performances of the latter two on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Conan, respectively.
Instrumentals for these three tracks are included in the Deluxe Edition, as well as two tracks from 2014’s ‘In Return’ that feature heavily in ODESZA’s live show: a VIP remix of “It’s Only (feat. Zyra)” and a collaborative remix from ODESZA and Golden Features of “Memories That You Call (feat. Monsoonsiren)”. Yesterday, ODESZA released a live performance video of “It’s Only” filmed at the WaMu Theater in their hometown of Seattle that attempts to capture the mind-blowing magnitude of their live show. Watch below.
The release of ‘A Moment Apart (Deluxe Edition)’ is a fitting expansion on an album that has earned the pioneering Wahington state electronic music duo two GRAMMY nominations (Best Dance/Electronic Album, and Best Dance Recording for “Line Of Sight (feat. WYNNE & Mansionair)”). Following the release of the original album in Sept. 2017, ODESZA has taken to major festival stages such as Coachella, Panorama, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits, while just last month, they announced the realization of a career-long dream with their curated four-day/night live music festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico on March 13-16. Called SUNDARA, the festival lineup will include multiple sets by top echelon contemporaries such as RÜFÜS DU SOL, RL Grime, Alison Wonderland and Bob Moses among many others, three separate and unique performances by ODESZA themselves, and a wide offering of other tropical vacation activities. Sundara details, HERE.

Music News- Phish's Curveball festival, which was booked to start up tomorrow, has been cancelled. The festival was to run at Watkins Glen International racetrack in Watkins Glen, NY. Severe flooding occurred in the area over this past week resulting in the New York State Department Of Health officials to declare the water supply in the Village of Watkins Glen; which includes the festival site, unsafe for human consumption.
Phish issued a statement expressing disappointment over the situation and fans who had arrived to stay overnight. Campgrounds will close at noon tomorrow. Read the following from the band-
Dear friends, our Phish family..
The four of us are writing this from directly behind the stage at Watkins Glen. We were about to walk onstage only moments ago for our traditional soundcheck jam for Curveball when we were told the heartbreaking news that due to the unsafe water conditions in the Village of Watkins Glen, our beloved festival is being canceled.
We are still in shock. The entire site is already set up and ready to go after literally months of work by our beloved hardworking crew, many of whom have been here for weeks. Our families are here, our gear is set, our tents are up. We keep waiting for someone to come over and tell us that there is a solution, and that the festival can go on. Unfortunately, it is not possible.
We are so terribly sorry for the inconvenience that this is causing so many of you. We hope from the bottoms of our hearts that at the very least this news will reach you before too much disruption takes place in your personal lives. We know that people traveled far, at great expense. We understand that people are missing work, and changing their schedules around.. we wish so much that there was some way that this wasn’t happening.
This summer has been absolutely joyous, with each gig building on the previous one, and we were all buzzing with excitement about Curveball. Please accept our deepest apologies for the disruption that this has caused all of you.. We wish there was something else we could say.
Thank you all from the depths of our souls for the joy that you continue to share with us every night. This has been the greatest summer we can remember.
Travel safe and know that we are as heartbroken as all of you. We are standing back here behind the stage, at our party that we’ve been planning for over a year, and we have just told that it won’t happen. There’s just nothing we can do.
Thank you all for your understanding.
With Love,
Phish
The New York State Department Of Health & Schuyler County released the following statement-
With a 14 county State of Emergency still in effect, the prospect of additional inclement weather, and a mandatory boil water order for the Village of Watkins Glen issued today, Schuyler County and the New York State Department of Health are unable to issue the required permits for this weekend’s Curveball Festival.
This week’s severe storm created untenable conditions, including the inability to deliver clean drinking water to patrons and vendors as confirmed by test results delivered today.
Working collaboratively with Watkins Glen International and Phish, the County and the State explored all options to allow the event to continue as scheduled.
While all parties acknowledge the inconvenience of this cancellation to patrons, we have a responsibility to act in the best interest of public health and safety for all.
Phish and Curveball Festival organizers will be notifying ticketholders about how to obtain a refund.
Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said, “Public health and safety is a concern for all events at Watkins Glen International. While we are disappointed Curveball has been cancelled, we understand and support the county and Department of Health’s decision.”
Senator Tom O’Mara said, “I appreciate the hard work and perseverance of state and local health officials, concert promoters, and everyone at The Glen to try to find a way to give the go-ahead for Phish this weekend. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate and threw a curveball of her own over the past several days. It’s disappointing for the band, the fans, and the community at large — and I was looking forward to attending myself — but it’s really the only decision that could be made for the overall sake of the public’s health and safety.”
Assemblyman Philip Palmesano said, “I share the disappointment of fans, Watkins Glen International, and the local community. But we appreciate the diligent efforts of state and local health officials, concert promoters, and Glen officials to try to find any way possible to give a green light to this weekend’s festival. Unfortunately, the cancellation is the only decision that can be made to appropriately and responsibly protect the public’s health and safety.”
Arrangements for refunds has not yet been announced .

Music News- Gorillaz have revealed a new album track from The Now Now: In addition to first single “Humility (featuring George Benson)” and its #1 Global Trending Video on YouTube directed by Jamie Hewlett and starring Gorillaz’ own 2D and Jack Black, a new album cut “Sorcererz” is now available digitally (along with album track “Lake Zurich,” which was released simultaneously to “Humility”). Listen to ‘Sorcererz’ below.
The Now Now is the latest all new studio album from the World’s Most Successful Virtual Act*. Produced by Gorillaz, with James Ford and Remi Kabaka, it was recorded entirely this February at Studio 13, London and is set for release June 29th on Warner Bros. Records.
In other Gorillaz news, the band recently confirmed the musical lineup of Demon Dayz LA, the inaugural U.S. staging of their Demon Dayz festival, taking place Saturday, October 20th at Pico Rivera Sports Arena & Grounds in Los Angeles. Headlined by Gorillaz’ only west coast appearance of 2018 and featuring special guests Erykah Badu, The Internet, DRAM and more, Demon Dayz LA promises an experience like no other: Two stages worth of special guests and collaborators from within and beyond the Gorillaz extended family, plus an assortment of surprises, attractions, exclusive merchandise and more—all combining to create an auditory, visual and physical version of the Gorillaz universe for fans to explore. Demon Dayz LA arrives at the close of the North American leg of The Now Now Tour, which kicks off October 8th in Toronto, and makes stops in Montreal, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Chicago.
And back in the UK, Gorillaz lynchpin Murdoc Niccals–currently incarcerated at London’s Wormwood Scrubs—has launched an ingenious plan to enlist loyal fans in the #freemurdoc campaign to assist his efforts in gathering information behind his false imprisonment for smuggling… With the help of a multi-platform chatbot, concerned fans around the world can converse with Murdoc – via voice or text – to hear from the man himself on what exactly they can do to help him break out of prison to restore his rightful place in the band, alongside 2D, Noodle and Russel.
